Home Control Systems Expected to Increase in Popularity
A recent survey of members of the International Furnishings and Design Association revealed an outlook of what experts believe American homes will be like in the year 2020. The Editor at Large reported on the results of this survey, as well as a survey of the National Association of Home Builders, and both show that homeowners’ priorities seem to be shifting from quantity to quality. Essentially, people are OK with smaller homes that offer more functionality and convenience—including in the form of home technology. Check out this survey finding, as reported by The Editor at Large:
“A whopping 97% of the IFDA respondents believe that by 2020 more home equipment and furnishings will be activated, not by touch, but by other means, such as voice and sensor. Top candidates for remote control are lighting, entertainment gear and environmental controls (heating/cooling), and window coverings.”
